Nutrition Point go Dutch
SALES at health food group Nutrition Point are set to treble this year after it swallowed up a Dutch rival.
The Warrington-based company has also invested more than £60,000 in new premises to meet the growing demand for its wheat and gluten free products.
Nutrition Point was set up by former Royal Marine Chris Hook nine years ago in his back bedroom to cater for people with special dietary requirements - in particular coeliac disease, wheat intolerance and dermatitis herpetiformis.
His wife and son both had wheat intolerance and the family was frustrated by the lack of availability of tasty food for people with the condition.
Today, its brands - Trufree and Dietary Free - offer a vast range of products from bread, pasta, pizza and pies to biscuits, ready meals and sweet snacks.
They are available in every major multiple in the UK including Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's and Morrisons.
Nutrition Point also exports to Europe through his sister firm, DS Group, based in Italy, and the group has just completed the construction of a new bakery in eastern Germany.
Following the recent ??16m acquisition of the coeliac business from Dutch food firm Numico, turnover for the year is expect to increase from £9m to £26m. Chris says: "The business is growing at an excellent rate, and we work very hard to come up with new and innovative products to meet market demands.
"Last year we were challenged by Sainsbury's to produce a gluten-free Yorkshire pudding, which we did, and the frozen puddings are now available in store. At the moment we are working on a recipe for doughnuts, which is proving difficult, but we'll get there."
Nutrition Point has also established a 'taste for life club' to offer members advice about living as a ceoliac. In only a few months, the club has more than 8,000 members who regularly receive samples and recipes for those with the condition.
Nice 'n' Naughty goes National by Acquiring 5 New Stores
Nice 'n' Naughty, the UK's premier adult shop chain which has won best in class awards in each of the last four years, has today announced the acquisition of a further 5 stores. This will increase the number of Nice 'n' Naughty stores from 11 to 16 and extend coverage nationwide, with branches in England, Scotland & Wales.
The new stores are located in Brighton, Bristol, Leeds, Newcastle and Glasgow and previously formed part of the Clonezone chain which has recently gone into administration. Nice 'n' Naughty takes over the stores on the 1st of February. All 5 will then be refitted, restocked and reopened within 8 weeks in order to minimize the interruption of service to customers whilst the rebranding to Nice 'n' Naughty takes place.

The celebrations were at a high on 22 July at the Erotic Awards evening when the UK's fastest growing adult chain store were awarded the Retailer of the Year title for the third year running!
The rapidly expanding company, which has grown from humble beginnings in Chester to an 16-store business empire, beat off competition from five other short listed companies to seize the title and the company directors Simon Prescott and Trish Murray are thrilled at winning.
The award is voted for by the industry itself and it's the second time Nice 'n' Naughty, which is the only adult store accredited with the prestigious Investor in People Award, has beaten, amongst others, high street retailer Anne Summers to the coveted title.
